Pears are back in season, and I have to say that I have been munching on these delights almost everyday.
After weeks of eating them i thought to myself why not try making a fruity dish out of them. I remembered that sometime back i came across across a recipe in which they had poached the pears in coffee, dipped them in chocolate and they looked delicious and at the time i thought to myself that’s something I would try!!!
I used some very simple ingredients just a combination of sugar, coffee and added some acidity with some lemon juice.
I began by peeling the pears, rubbing some lemon juice on them to avoid discoloration and halving them. I simmered the coffee and sugar before adding the pears. I cooked mine for about 20 minutes and once they were cooked I removed them from the coffee syrup, added the additional sugar and let it reduce for about 15 minutes until it was concentrated to my liking.
I poured the coffee syrup over the pears and let it cool before serving them.
There are different ways of serving these delights depending on your preferences and I would recommend that you guys try dipping them in melted chocolate and crushed nuts and serve with some vanilla ice cream.
